Alannah with Denaro

A lifelong equine enthusiast and animal lover, Alannah DiBona, M.A.,LMHC, began learning from horses at the age of five.  With the help of gifted trainers and several very special Appaloosas and Quarter Horses, Alannah rode competitively throughout her childhood and teen years, showing successfully at national and international levels.  After settling into a marketing-based career while training horses and developing other young riders, Alannah knew that her true calling lay in healing and pursued a graduate degree in Professional Counseling with a focus in Performance Psychology from Lesley University.

Knowing that years of horse experience would dovetail smoothly into the practice of psychotherapy, Alannah began working with clients of all ages and founded Windhorse Counseling in order to promote equine assisted learning and psychotherapy in the Boston area.  Her work is informed by decades of coaching and horse training as well as principles of cognitive behavior, humanistic and expressive therapies alongside natural horsemanship.

Alannah is presently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor as certified by the state of Massachusetts and the National Board of Certified Counselors.  In addition, she is a licensed riding instructor and member of Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) and Multi-Service Eating Disorder Association (MEDA).  While Alannah maintains a traditional office-based practice in Concord, she feels that her greatest work occurs in collaboration with her co-therapists, Denaro the Appaloosa and Daisy the Bloodhound.
